The exhibition "How Are We Picturing Cells?" premiered at the Haus der Wissenschaft Bremen and is now permanently showcased at the Institute of Biology, Humboldt University of Berlin.
The exhibition's visual concept aimed to challenge conventional visualizations that influence our understanding of cells. Dark colors, white font, along with metallic and golden materials mixed with new media such as video displays and 3D-printed objects were chosen to create a contemporary aesthetic, which aimed to encourage a fresh perspective.
Scientific metaphors, such as microscope-like apparatuses, were integrated to encourage visitors to explore their own perceptions of cells. The six interactive stations focus on making the diverse nature of cells understandable and cover aspects like cell size, popular visualizations, shape, structure, dynamics, uniqueness, and diversity of cells.
