North Sea is my attempt to capture the feeling of a coastline shaped by both natural forces and human presence. It is not just about the place itself but how it is experienced by those who live there and those who visit. What makes up the essence of a place? Is it the landscape, the people, the weather, or how all of these come together?
This series focuses on Cuxhavens coastal areas Sahlenburg Döse and Duhnen and explores how time, light, and weather change the space. The beaches are sometimes full of people and other times empty and quiet. These moments of presence and absence leave traces that tell stories of what was and what might be.
The way people face the horizon in silence, the worn textures of the shore, and the shifting sky are all part of this rhythm of life. Here the ebb and tide shape not only the landscape but also the experience of being there. The accompanying sound piece deepens this reflection and invites the viewer to sense the delicate balance between nature, human life, and the passing of time.
