The exhibition LeibEigenschaften – The ‘Damaged’ Body in the Premodern View explored how physical and cognitive differences were understood between the years 500 and 1800. At that time people with unusual bodies were often seen as part of a meaningful divine order not as objects of exclusion or diagnosis. They were visible in everyday life cared for within families present in public space and sometimes even central to religious or scientific thinking.

The visual concept was developed together with the design studio ZwoAcht and a team of students. A central focus was on accessibility not only in terms of physical access but also in terms of language and visual communication. My contribution focused on translating content into plain language and designing a typographic and layout system that ensured clarity and inclusion. The goal was to make the exhibition content understandable and approachable for a wide range of visitors including those with learning or cognitive difficulties.
