The publication "Picornaviridae – Designing Model and Visualization Concepts in Virology" explores the visual representation of virus structures, focusing on the geometric origins of the Picornavirus family.
A key aspect of the work is the visual concept, which aims to reach a broad audience, including design experts, cultural scientists, and natural scientists, and to find a balance between science and design.
To make the content readable, understandable, and interesting for both target audiences, it was combined a neutral, bold typography with soft colors and a clean, contemporary layout. The inspiration for the visual approach came from old educational, scientific materials and textbooks.
Additionally, an interactive model sheet and poster help enhance comprehension.
