The University of Oldenburg publishes a series on material culture studies, including the volume Ethnography in Schools – Inquiry-Based Learning in the Teaching Internship “Textile Design” (Studien zur Materiellen Kultur, Vol. 36). This edition presents results from an 18-week practice-based teacher training module focused on the school subject Textile Design.
The publication explores key questions such as how Textile Design can be taught effectively in the 21st century and its relevance in the digital age. It brings together ethnographic research conducted by future teachers during their internships, reflecting on their personal experiences and learning processes.
Minimalist illustrations were created to visualize central ideas from each article and to connect the diverse perspectives within the collection.
Edited by Heike Derwanz and Carolin Krämer, this open-access publication is part of the University of Oldenburg’s commitment to advancing textile didactics and material culture education.
